For some time now, there’s been a debate among nonprofits about how to best promote their organization on Facebook. Should you use a Facebook page or a Facebook group?

The short answer is that you should be using a Facebook page to promote your organization. This chart explains nine significant differences between Facebook Pages and Facebook Groups, including:

Pages enable quality content the potential to go viral. Groups offer no potential for virality.

Pages can greatly enhance your organizations SEO strategy. Groups offer no such benefit.

Pages can be customized to include functionality for email acquisition, petitions, promotions, etc. Groups cannot be customized at all.

Pages are intended for marketing. Groups are intended for collaboration.
